Ahpra's overall purpose is to protect the public by regulating health practitioners efficiently and effectively in the public interest to facilitate access to safer healthcare for all the community. Ahpra and the National Scheme, in partnership with the National Scheme's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Strategy Group (the Strategy Group) have committed to eliminating racism within healthcare in Australia.

Ahpra, as the health practitioner regulator, aims to make patient safety the norm for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples by ensuring registered health practitioners are practising their profession in a culturally safe way.

This role will be supported in our Melbourne or Canberra offices in a full time, ongoing capacity.

**Ahpra requires all employees to comply with Ahpra policies, including the **Flexible working policy**.**

**About the Role**

This role reports directly to Policy Manager, Nursing and Midwifery and will work collaboratively with CATSINaM with a key focus to provide professional advisory services, project coordination and secretariat support to several working groups and reform projects. Having a deep understanding of the National Scheme, and having lived experience as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person/s and culturally safe practice is fundamental.

You will be an experienced, policy officer who has an excellent understanding of governance and regulation in the public interest. Communication and strong interpersonal skills will be professional and collaborative as you manage and engage key stakeholders internally and externally in this role. - Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cultural safety
- Experienced managing programs of work and/or projects relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
- Relevant experience in health or public policy or similar
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, motivate others and inspire change
- Well-developed problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Flexible 3 days working from home with 2 days in the office.

- Support and access to an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff network.
- Access to a formal mentoring program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
- Cultural leave entitlements, as part of the Ahpra Enterprise Agreement.
- Attractive salary of $113,718 per annum plus superannuation.
