**About the role**:
The Team Leader, Workplace Health and Safety Team Leader sits within the Workplace Health and Safety team. The team has responsibility for providing operational health and safety advice and support to the department, developing and implementing a fit for purpose health and safety management system, and ensuring that legislative and departmental health and safety compliance requirements are met.
A key focus of the Team Leader role is the identification and control of operational health and safety hazards and risks through management of the department's online incident reporting system, facilitation of psychosocial risk assessments as part of the department's approach to implementing the forthcoming psychological health regulations, and the development of initiatives to support holistic risk management and mitigation practices across the domains of prevention, early intervention and appropriate response.

**About you**:
- We are looking for someone who can:_
- Provide leadership and expert advice on matters arising in relation to occupational health and safety legislation, compliance codes and best practice to enhance staff health and safety outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of health and safety management system (HSMS) content to support the department to manage operational and workplace health and safety risks.
- Contribute to the development of, and lead initiatives and processes to support effective prevention, risk management practices and monitor and evaluate these initiatives and processes.
- Manage the department's online hazard and incident reporting system and provide appropriate risk management advice and support to manage operational risks including conducting inspections and investigations where required.
- Contribute to the development of strategic implementation plans, audits and training to monitor effectiveness of safety systems in protecting employee health and safety including incorporation of communication channels to identify and share better practice and support key health, safety and wellbeing processes and messaging.
- Effectively supervise and provide leadership by leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and deliver on unit priorities and demonstrating behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values.
