The Our Yarning initiative at Library For All has a rare opening for a Cultural Facilitator. Our Yarning is a library of books created by and for community, designed to reflect the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and spark a love of reading. These stories ensure cultural integrity and share a wide range of voices and perspectives. The Cultural Facilitator, Our Yarning is responsible for liaising with Indigenous communities, providing cultural advice, and delivering cultural training to educators.
Library For All is a social enterprise of Save the Children Australia, focused on making knowledge accessible to all and delivering impact for children's education worldwide.
Responsibilities
Liaising with Indigenous communities to support the publication of their stories
Cultural advising on manuscript texts and illustrations
Working with the Our Yarning Coordinator to deliver cultural training to educators
Managing Cultural and Intellectual Property (CIP) considerations and working with communities on consent and ownership as required
What you'll bring
Deep expertise in and understanding of cultural protocols and community engagement
Ability to lead with cultural competence and respect
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate and build authentic relationships in community settings
Experience delivering workshops with expert facilitation and mediation skills
