About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Project Officer to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and aboriginal heritage through delivery of asset and infrastructure projects.
The Project Officer is responsible for providing diverse project and contract management support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation, procurement, and implementing and monitoring project plans. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high performing team in the North Coast Branch Assets and Delivery Team.
This role will require the Project Officer to travel to various national parks and reserves within the North Coast region, including both on road and off-road driving. The Project Officer will be required to undertake project management activities both in the office and in the field. Travel to remote locations and overnight stays may be required.
About you
You will undertake the role description key accountabilities in the context of delivery of the North Coast Branch Assets and Delivery Team work program:
- Working collaboratively within the Branch to ensure identification, prioritisation and delivery of a variety of projects to ensure they occur in a timely and efficient manner.
- Working with asset management frameworks and systems including program supervision, coordination and data management
- Supporting the implementation of major contracts including consultation, negotiation, documentation and execution for park management services, in accordance with relevant policies and procurement guidelines.
- Using financial and asset information/mapping systems such as the myWorkZone to maintain and enhance data quality and improve ongoing asset life cycle planning
- Communicating and liaising with key stakeholders; and coordinating staff or contractors undertaking asset restoration activities.
- Applying best practice principles for asset and project management with use of relevant construction codes, safe work practices and risk management in the restoration and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.
- Applying financial reporting requirements for capital projects as well as risk management principles as they relate to restoration of infrastructure and assets.
- Applying understanding of the legislation for protected area management, contract management, Occupational Health and Safety, construction standards and environmental planning to the Assets and Delivery Team work program
- Have a strong understanding of environmental protection measures and working in sensitive natural environments
Essential requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
- Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
