Prestons Public School, located in the Glenfield Network within the Liverpool Local Government Area, serves approximately 580 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In 2024, the school opened a three-class support unit for IO/AU students. Our enrolment profile reflects a diverse community, with over 78% of students speaking a language other than English and a socio-economic background indicated by a FOEI of 125. We have 31 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled.
We are dedicated to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment, emphasising collaboration, community engagement, and student agency in all aspects of our school culture. We work closely with local high schools to establish seamless pathways for our students, while also nurturing strong partnerships with families and the wider community. Our students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning through our seven learner qualities and active participation in student parliament.
A key focus at Prestons Public School is the delivery of high-quality, explicit teaching in English and mathematics. We employ data-informed strategies to tailor our instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of each student. Collaborative learning is highly valued, and we integrate High Impact Professional Learning strategies into our practices. Dedicated team learning time enables staff to reflect, share best practices, and collaborate for continuous improvement, ensuring a significant impact on each student's educational experience.

Selection CriteriaApproval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism and Mild to Moderate intellectual disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to develop a positive and well-managed learning environment, differentiate the curriculum and implement individualised learning programs through personalised learning and support plans that are inclusive and maximise student engagement.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that contribute to a culture of inclusivity, with the ability to proactively engage with students, colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, external agencies and the wider school community.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
