Harrington Park Public School is a large primary school with 730 enrolments including 41 students who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, located in the Camden Local Government Area. The school was established in 2002 and has well-equipped modern facilities. The executive staff consists of a principal, two deputy principals, four assistant principals and one assistant principal special education. The staff ranges in the level of experience, with some very experienced teachers who combine well with a growing number of early career teachers.
A strong and positive relationship exists between the school and the community. Our school's changing demographic allows us opportunities to celebrate and engage our diverse school community. The school P&C is very supportive, and staff and community working together is a significant feature of the school.
The school maintains a strong commitment to the development of literacy and numeracy skills, with a focus in our current School Excellence Plan on improving student outcomes, improving teacher practices and supporting students in their efforts to be contemporary and highly engaged learners.
Our high expectations guide every student, every teacher and every leader to improve every year. Harrington Park has also achieved many successes in sport, creative and performing arts and Environmental education which are embedded in school programs and practices. The major focus for the next three years is to build more confident and creative learners who connect and thrive through positive partnerships.
Selection CriteriaApproval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with diverse needs including autism and intellectual disability, with proven ability to implement strategies to meet their communication, sensory, social and behavioural needs.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute positively to whole school culture and work collaboratively to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, community and external agencies.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum by developing and implementing Personalised Learning and Support Plans that maximise student growth, foster high expectations and promote student engagement.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education policy and capacity to meet the learning needs of complex students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
