Position Information

William Rose School is a School for Specific Purposes in Western Sydney with 86 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We have an explicit focus on individualised education for students with vision impairment, deaf/blind, sensory and moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, autism and complex behavioural needs, emotional disturbance and Autism. Fifty-six percent of students are identified EAL/D learners, and 9% are Aboriginal. The school is dedicated to delivering excellence in sensory and special education within an inclusive environment, supporting students to reach their full potential for future success. At William Rose, teachers work collaboratively with parents and carers to design and deliver high-quality, meaningful learning programs tailored to individual student needs, with a strong focus on understanding how each student learns. As a trauma-informed and responsive school, safety, connection, and wellbeing are prioritised as the foundation for learning. Successful applicants bring a flexible, student-centred approach and the ability to engage all students. High-quality differentiated, explicit teaching aligned with the School Excellence Plan ensures the diverse needs of all students are effectively met. Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach and/or relevant experience, along with a willingness to teach special education students with additional learning needs, demonstrating the ability to support a diverse range of students with communication, social, sensory, moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, behavioural difficulties, and emotional disturbances.
  • Evidence of exemplary quality teaching to integrate a high quality differentiated curriculum in literacy and numeracy into effective and successful classroom practice for all students.
  • Demonstrated capacity to plan, deliver and evaluate differentiated individualised Education Plans that are engaging and culturally inclusive with a focus on student engagement and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated exceptional classroom management skills and a proven ability to implement trauma informed positive behaviour strategies tailored to the diverse needs of students with a range of disabilities and complex needs, fostering engagement, participation, and a respectful, supportive learning environment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills which promote collaboration with staff and positive partnerships with parents/carers, community, support agencies, staff and students.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
