Our newly refurbished and re-opened Tavern is looking for an enthusiastic Chef to join us as we continue to grow. We believe in using quality ingredients and supporting local producers to deliver above average pub-style food.
About UsWe are a family owned and operated newly re-opened tavern in the semi-rural area of Serpentine. Our team have worked hard and built a great following of supporters from both within the local community and surrounding suburbs plus become a destination of choice for those keen to escape the burbs and enjoy a scenic drive.
Position OverviewEmployment Type: Full time (after a probation period)
Days of Operation: Wed to Sat 11 to 9pm and Sunday 11 to 5pm
Remuneration: Competitive hourly rate/salary will be offered commensurate with experience.
Start Date: Immediate
Key Responsibilities- Assist the head chef with general kitchen preparation, including chopping, slicing, grating, and marinating ingredients
- Collaborate with the head chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations, especially during busy meal services
- Maintain the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety at all times
- Monitor inventory levels and inform the head chef of any shortages or items needing replenishment
- Provide input into menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and presentation styles
- Assist with cleaning duties as required to maintain a spotless and efficient kitchen environment
- Take pride in creating appealing dishes that meet both ours and our guests expectations
- Prepare and cook a variety of pizzas following our house recipes and standards
- Ability to step in for head chef during leave as and when required
- Able to communicate with Duty Managers and FOH staff to ensure cohesive environment for our customers
- Hold a relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety protocols
- At least 2 years' experience in a similar position
- Previous experience making woodfired pizzas in a busy kitchen environment is highly desirable
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Willingness to work collaboratively and support the head chef with all aspects of kitchen preparation and cooking
- Passion for creating dishes you'd be proud to serve your family
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude under pressure
- Ability to multitask and maintain focus during busy service periods
- Openness to learning new skills and contributing ideas
