Gidgee Healing is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, dedicated to delivering holistic, culturally safe health care across North West and Lower Gulf Queensland. Our mission is to strengthen culture, empower communities, and improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We provide a wide range of services, including primary health care, maternal and child health, allied health, mental health and wellbeing, and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Centre Service Manager to lead the Normanton Recovery & Community Wellbeing Service (NRCWS).
In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally secure drug and alcohol recovery services. You will manage day-to-day operations, lead and support staff, foster strong community partnerships, and ensure compliance with governance and reporting requirements.
This role requires a leader who is community-minded, culturally responsive, and committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in their healing journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage service operations, staff, and resources.
- Embed the Trauma Informed Empowerment Model of Care.
- Ensure compliance with service contracts, governance, and reporting.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with communities and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous quality improvement and cultural safety.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
- Tertiary or postgraduate qualification in health, community services, social work, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing, particularly AOD issues.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience in health or wellbeing services (preferably rural/remote).
- Proven ability to build relationships and engage with communities and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of clinical governance, risk management, and quality improvement processes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Practical requirements include:
- Appropriate professional registration
- Current National Police Check, Blue Card, First Aid certificate, and Queensland Driver's Licence.
- Willingness to travel regularly to remote communities, including by road and small aircraft.
