Stake is looking for a Manager, Operations to join our Operations and Customer Success team, at our brand new CBD office, within a flexible hybrid working model
This is a 12-month maternity leave cover
with the possibility of extension to 15 months.

About this role
The Manager of Operations at Stake is a strategic leader responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the business's core operations. We are looking for an innovator and problem-solver to optimise existing processes, drive strategic initiatives, and build a high-performing team. The role requires a strong blend of analytical skills, leadership, and a deep understanding of the financial services industry.
Our high-performing and vibrant Operations team (~30 people) at Stake spans Cash Operations, Trading Operations, KYC/AML and Stake Super across Australia and Brazil and you will be a key leader at Stake touching all areas of the business. Stake is going through an exciting growth phase and this role will be instrumental in how we continue to uplift and refine our processes.
Further responsibilities include:
- This role will oversee the following critical pillars within Operations, as well as the operational processes and oversight for new product developments related to each:
- AML/KYC: this refers to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC).
- Trading: managing the operational aspects of trading, which could include trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Cash: handling the flow of funds, including deposits, withdrawals, and internal transfers.
- Stake Super Operations: overseeing the operational processes related to self-managed super funds (SMSFs) on the platform, which likely involves managing contributions, rollovers, and compliance.
Operational Excellence
- Process & Strategy:
design, implement, and continuously optimize operational processes to support rapid business growth and enhance efficiency. Partner with leadership to translate strategic plans into tangible operational initiatives. - System Implementation:
identify, implement, and optimise new tools and systems to enhance overall operational efficiency and effectiveness. - Risk Management:
proactively identify and manage operational risks, including forecasting and planning for scalability and resource needs. - Key Operations Partner Relationships:
manage and own relationships with key operations partners (e.g., DW, FinClear, AWX, etc.).
Leadership
- Team Development:
Lead and mentor a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. - Knowledge Management:
Ensure all operational processes are well-documented and easily understood, building a resilient and scalable knowledge base for the entire team.
A bit about you
- Operational Leadership:
Proven experience as a senior operations leader, preferably within a high-growth fintech environment. - Growth Frameworks:
A demonstrated track record of building and scaling operational frameworks that have supported substantial business growth. - Analytical & Strategic Mindset:
A fast-thinking, decisive problem-solver with a highly analytical and 'first principles' approach to complex challenges. - Execution Focus:
Obsessed with operational excellence and a proven ability to translate vision into tangible results. - AI Integration:
A deep understanding of AI capabilities and experience in effectively integrating them into operational processes. Experience with agentic frameworks or autonomous systems is highly valued. - Team Leadership:
A strong, empathetic leader who is also a hands-on individual contributor, comfortable being 'in the traffic' and not just directing it. You have a maniacal attention to detail.
