Our menu ranges from signature ramen and sandos to crafted breakfast sets, desserts, and specialty beverages featuring Ona Coffee. We are passionate about delivering exceptional food and heartfelt hospitality—and we're looking for like-minded individuals to grow with us.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will oversee daily kitchen operations, applying your culinary expertise and catering experience to deliver high-quality dishes. You will play a key role in leading the success of our dynamic and collaborative kitchen team.
Role Responsibilities:
· Prepare and cook dishes in line with established recipes and restaurant standards, ensuring high-quality taste, presentation, and consistency.
· Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team during all stages of service, maintaining smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
· Train and mentor kitchen staff to enhance culinary skills, kitchen workflow, and overall performance.
· Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards to ensure a compliant and safe working environment.
· Collaborate with the owner on menu development, including the creation of new dishes, seasonal planning, and cost control.
· Manage inventory to ensure freshness and availability of ingredients for daily service.
· Conduct regular stocktakes, control food and labour costs, reduce waste, and support accurate cost reporting.
· Communicate effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house teams to address special requests, dietary requirements, and service issues.
Requirements:
· Preferred qualification: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent culinary training.
· Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a chef in a restaurant environment.
· Solid understanding of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and culinary techniques.
· Proven ability to work independently with a wide variety of ingredients and cooking methods.
· Sound knowledge of food safety practices and HACCP compliance.
· Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
· High attention to detail, with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
· Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and additional shifts as required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
