We're looking for a  Lead IT Developer & Manager to join our client's team on apermanent basis in Melbourne. This is a rare opportunity to combine hands-on technical leadership with strategic direction — leading a skilled team to modernise, maintain, and innovate essential clinical and manufacturing systems in a highly regulated environment.

You'll work closely with senior business and IT leaders to define technology roadmaps, lead upgrades and new developments, and strengthen resilience through proactive support and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Development & Support: Own and manage the lifecycle of mission-critical in-house systems — from design and development to support and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Modernisation: Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to transform legacy systems into modern, scalable platforms.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain alignment with GMP and TGA standards, and support audits, validations, and documentation requirements.
  • Manage Delivery: Oversee upgrades, incident responses, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Build Partnerships: Foster productive relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and cross-functional teams.

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years' experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven success leading technical teams in complex or regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, pharmaceutical, retail or manufacturing).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects and driving operational excellence.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or related disciplines.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience in IT leadership roles within healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Background in transitioning legacy systems to modern platforms and architectures.
