Ovolo Woolloomooloo is the brand's flagship Australian hotel, located in Sydney's idyllic harbourside suburb of... (dramatic drum roll) Woolloomooloo. Nestled in the heart of the popular wharf precinct, a short walk to the city's central business district, the hotel is surrounded by a wide selection of much-loved dining and nightlife options. Ovolo Woolloomooloo features 100 guest rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, meeting rooms and events spaces, a swimming pool, and Bar Woolloomooloo.

The Gig

We are currently on the lookout for our next Commis Chef to join our fun and exciting team at Ovolo As Commis Chef, you will be Reporting to the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will be a motivated person with a positive attitude who has an interest to progress your culinary career, develop your skills, and work within the varying styles of kitchen operations.

You will be responsible for producing a wide range of quality products while applying your knowledge of hygiene and food safety, and upholding our high guest service standards. We are seeking someone with proven experience working independently and consistently delivering exceptional performance.

This is a Part-Time position and will require flexibility in your availability.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with producing menus and new dishes.
• Actively share ideas, opinions and suggestions in daily shift briefings
• Maintain proper rotation of product in all chillers to minimise wastage/spoilage
• Ensure storeroom requisitions are accurate
• Have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features and promotions
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
• Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage

About you

At Ovolo, we are all about YOU. We provide a fun and exciting environment and all we ask is that you give us your dedication to our brand and most importantly, your team You're a hard-working individual that's not scared to jump in and help where needed. Ideally you have at least 2 years work experience in similar role, exceed basic cooking - ability to work well in a team. You should have a valid Food Safety Certificate or willing to get one prior to starting. We ask that you provide flexibility in your availability, willing to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
