The Role
As the Settlements Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing and managing the property settlement process. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant completion of property transactions from the point of contract exchange to final settlement. The Settlements Manager will lead a team, develop and implement efficient processes, and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders involved in the settlement lifecycle.
What you'll do:
Settlements Process Management
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end settlement process for property transactions.
- Ensure all pre-settlement conditions are met and necessary documentation is prepared accurately and on time.
- Coordinate and schedule settlement dates with all relevant parties.
- Monitor the progress of settlements, proactively identify and resolve any issues or delays.
- Ensure all financial adjustments, payments, and disbursements are correctly calculated and executed at settlement.
- Manage and reconcile settlement funds.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of settlement officers.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities for the team.
Stakeholder Management
- Maintain excellent communication with all parties involved in the settlement process, including financial institutions, property developers, and internal sales/project teams.
- Act as a point of contact for complex settlement inquiries and escalations.
- Build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with key industry contacts.
Compliance
- Ensure all settlement activities comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to minimize risks associated with financial transactions and data management.
- Stay updated on changes in property law and settlement procedures.
Reporting
- Generate regular reports on settlement progress, key performance indicators, and any identified issues or trends.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and inform strategic decisions.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a senior role managing property settlements, ideally within a property development, financial institution, or related industry.
- Strong understanding of the property settlement lifecycle and associated financial processes.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team.
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in relevant settlement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
