Our client, a well-established SaaS company in Melbourne, is seeking a skilled System Administrator to manage their Windows-based private cloud environment. This is a hands-on technical role focused on maintaining, securing, and optimizing virtualized systems in a small but dynamic team.

You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of virtual machines hosted on a private cloud, with a strong emphasis on compliance with government security standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server virtual machines
  • Apply security patches, updates, and system hardening measures
  • Monitor system performance, logs, and vulnerabilities
  • Perform vulnerability scanning and support incident response activities
  • Manage and troubleshoot SQL Server and IIS web servers
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Maintain detailed system and security documentation
  • Coordinate compliance activities and security audits

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in Windows Server administration within a virtualized environment
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn Australian Government security frameworks (e.g., ASD ISM)
  • Ability to obtain or currently hold Baseline (or higher) Commonwealth Government security clearance (Australian citizenship required)
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management and monitoring tools
  • Experience with SQL Server and IIS administration is desirable
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team
