Permanent, part-time (38 hours fortnightly) position based in Devonport
This position is 19 hours per week, over three days. The hours of work is 12pm-8pm with flexibility on which three days are worked.
About us:
Anglicare Tasmania is a non-profit organisation providing a wide range of community services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to ageing and disability, health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.
About the Role:
The Youth Development Coach (YDC) is responsible for delivering the Education First Youth Foyer (EFYF) model to Students. The role requires the YDC to work within the Advantage Thinking framework and to coach Students to achieve their goals in education and employment. The YDC will have at least fortnightly contact with the Student to ensure their Learning Plan is progressing to achieve adulthood independence. The role is responsible for delivering the EFYF model within an integrated and collaborative framework with relevant stakeholders and services in the community. The role may require the YDC to complete shift work as required.

You must have:
- An understanding of the Housing Connect system including young people's pathways;
- Knowledge of educational opportunities including vocational pathways;
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues relating to homelessness such as: poverty, unemployment, health, family violence, substance use and other social factors which impact on vulnerable people or at risk people.
- Understanding of Tasmania's current housing market and the difficulties facing low income people trying to secure housing;
- Concepts of social justice, social inclusion and empowerment and their application to practice;
- Demonstrated skills in assisting people who are experiencing disadvantage including reflective practice;
- High level interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively engage with young people and a range of stakeholders including real estate agents and business owners;
- Client feedback and participation strategies, their application to practice and quality improvement process;
- Comprehensive knowledge of the community services sector and resources available for young people;
- High level initiative, problem solving and resilience skills including the ability to maintain a positive outlook, see the 'bigger picture', identify opportunities and implement solutions;
- Well-developed writing skills including the ability to maintain accurate, professional case-notes, write reports, collect data, prepare correspondence and provide required information within program guidelines;
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage own work flows in conjunction with senior staff;
- Computer skills, in particular the ability to operate work processing and database management;
- A Social Work degree or other tertiary qualification deemed equivalent, and/or clearly demonstrated experience.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check if you are applying for the 1st time or have renewed your registration since 1st February 2021;
- present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (National Police Check) which is no older than 12 months;
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
- provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:
- provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
On commencement the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
