Pastry Chef / Baker – Morning Shift

Location: Fitzroy, VIC

Hours: 6am – 2pm

Bistro Morgan is one of Melbourne's favourite bakeries, known for our doughnuts, scrolls, muffins, cookies, and a whole lot more. From our Windsor Bakehouse, we supply our own stores as well as a growing list of wholesale and retail partners across the country. We are looking for a passionate Pastry Chef/Baker to join our production team on the morning shift.

About the Role

Working from 6am – 2pm, you'll be part of the team that keeps our bakery moving each day. You'll focus on production of core bakery items, ensuring products are consistently high-quality, beautifully presented, and delivered on time. This role is perfect for someone with solid pastry or baking experience who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake a range of products including doughs, pastries, muffins, cookies, and specialty items.
  • Follow recipes and production schedules to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Assist with shaping, filling, finishing, and decorating baked goods.
  • Work efficiently to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workstation in line with food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other bakers and pastry chefs to support smooth daily operations.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback for continuous improvement and product development.

About You

  • Previous experience as a baker or pastry chef (preferably in a commercial or wholesale environment).
  • Strong technical baking/pastry skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Positive attitude and a team-first mindset.
  • Food safety knowledge and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
