The Grain Store — a Melbourne institution celebrated for its produce-driven menus and brunch excellence — is on the lookout for an experienced and motivated Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.

Located in the heart of the CBD, we've been serving up innovative daytime dishes since 2013, with a focus on quality ingredients, warm service, and a true work-life balance — no dinner shifts, ever.


About the Role

This role is perfect for a skilled and passionate chef looking to work in a creative and fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with our Executive Chef to deliver seasonal dishes that stand out — and be part of a high-performing kitchen known for quality and consistency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute high-quality brunch and lunch dishes
  • Assist with daily prep, specials, and menu planning
  • Manage your section efficiently during busy services
  • Ensure food quality, portion control, and beautiful presentation
  • Maintain stock, manage mise en place, and support ordering
  • Adhere to food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards

What You Bring

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar kitchen role
  • Relevant culinary training or certifications
  • Calm and efficient under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Passion for fresh produce and seasonal menus
  • A team-focused attitude and strong work ethic
