About the role

This role is accountable for supporting the Infrastructure environment across hybrid technologies, including Citrix, Windows and Linux systems. In addition the role will require a review of the current operating environment and provide recommendations, advice and an upgrade path to modernise and enhance the current service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows and Red Hat Linux environments.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Lead system upgrades, patches, and security updates, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Standardise build procedures with templated images, IaC tools, and automation (e.g. MECM, MDT, PowerCLI).
  • Assist with the migration of Virtual Machines onto supported hardware.
  • Must be amiable to supporting a 24x7 critical infrastructure operation; some on-call/after-hours work will be expected.

Skills and experience

  • Deep experience in Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and provisioning.
  • Proven capability in VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi templating and automation.
  • Practical Citrix expertise, including Studio, Director, and NetScaler Gateway configuration.
  • Scripting using PowerShell, Bash, or PowerCLI.
  • Familiarity with MECM/SCCM or equivalent deployment frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to uplift infrastructure delivery models in enterprise or government environments.

Desirable

  • Exposure to ISO27001 controls, Essential Eight maturity uplift, or ITIL-aligned operations.
  • Experience delivering platforms in regulated, cost-recovery, or SLA-based environments.
  • Familiarity with patching, monitoring, and secure build baselines in both Windows & Linux.
