Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the effective financial management of the agency.
The Accountant will deliver a variety of financial and accounting services, including financial forecasting, budget analysis and management, and reporting. Additionally, they will offer procurement and contract advice, guidance, and support across ECSA.
Reporting to the Manager Finance, key responsibilities include:
- working with the Manager Finance and managers to prepare the annual budget and providing regular progress reports
- preparing financial statements and performance reporting in accordance with established timelines and relevant legislation, standards and regulations
- providing advice and guidance on complex financial management and control matters
- overseeing ECSA's banking functions including bank and credit card reconciliations, cash flow modelling and cash flow management
- leading and providing financial input and evaluation for complex and high value procurement processes
- preparing annual and quarterly financial statements
- facilitating external audit processes
- actively evaluating ECSA's financial systems, policies and procedures, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Applications are encouraged from degree qualified professionals (Accounting, Economics or Commerce) with previous experience in financial and management accounting. Ability to identify errors and anomalies in financial data and formulate solutions to correct issues, and previous experience preparing financial statements, budgets and tax returns are all essential to this role.
The successful applicant will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication and relationship management skills, and preferably have accounting experience within a state government context.
Special Conditions
The role is offered on an ongoing basis
- In order not to compromise the strict neutrality of the Commission, no person who is active in political affairs or intends to carry on this activity may be an employee
- Employment is dependent upon a criminal history check that the Commission finds satisfactory
- Extensive out of normal working hours duty may be required during election events
- Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Remuneration
- ASO6 - $98,478 to $104,165 per annum
