As the Membership Growth & Experience Manager, you will lead a passionate team and drive two key areas:

1. Membership strategy – developing and delivering initiatives that increase and retain USU membership year on year.

2. Student experience – ensuring our programs and events inspire students, foster community, and strengthen member engagement.

This role combines strategy, creativity, and leadership. You'll shape the future of membership at USU while supporting student-led programs that bring campus to life.

• Develop and execute a membership growth strategy that drives acquisition and retention.

• Lead and inspire a team across programs including volunteering, student voice, and international student engagement.

• Oversee engaging events and campaigns that boost membership numbers and create unforgettable student experiences.

• Manage budgets and reporting with both precision and creativity.

• Build strong relationships across campus, from student leaders to university executives.

• Experience creating and delivering strategies that grow and retain membership and customer engagement.

• Proven leadership skills – you build high-performing, inclusive, and motivated teams.

• Strategic thinking and strong project management capabilities.

• Budget management experience ($250K+).

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• 3+ years' experience in management, membership-based, youth-focused, or engagement-driven roles.

• A proactive, adaptable mindset – you thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.

• Meal card for food and beverage - $15 per day

The USU (University of Sydney Union) is proudly Australia's oldest and largest not-for-profit student organisation, dedicated to providing students with the best possible university experience.

Led by a student board elected by our members, the USU provides fun things on campus, such as festivals, events and parties. We manage a diverse range of programs, including an active volunteering program and a Language Exchange, to name a few. In addition, we support over 200 Clubs and Societies as well as operate bars, food and retail outlets across campus, providing great coffee, affordable fresh food, graduation gown hire and official USYD merchandise.
