Role Overview:

As Warehouse and Distribution Manager, you will engage and lead your team to drive performance in the achievement of established goals.  Providing front line operational support, you will ensure customer service levels are maximised and supply rates are achieved on an ongoing continuous basis.

As a leader within the business, you will play an instrumental role in creating and implementing processes and procedures, driving best practice, team performance management and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise efficiencies and improve operational performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Engage, lead, motivate and develop your team through effective people management strategies. Ensuring capability of people, training, coaching, and performance management to drive productivity, engagement and overall site objectives

  • Leading, mentoring, and empowering diverse Warehouse teams, steering their recruitment, development, training, performance evaluation, leave management and scheduling.

  • Manage and implement daily morning huddles to enhance communication and workflow across the team
  • Strategically planning and managing logistics, warehouse, and transportation.
  • Drive performance on a daily basis across the distribution centre ensuring delivery on time sensitive supply chain deadlines and delivery in full
  • Ensure customer requirements are understood and communicated to all relevant parties
  • Reducing operating costs while meeting workload forecasts through effective resource planning
  • Cultivate a collaborative team environment to achieve overall company objectives
  • Efficient (de) stuffing of containers and trailers and management of container crews.
  • Inventory Control: Design and enforce procedures to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring product availability while avoiding overstocking.

  • Ensure adherence to systems accuracy, in regards to internal stock transfers, adherence to processes across the team and communication

  • Ensuring accurate and efficient order fulfillment to meet daily 100% DIFOT targets
  • Ensure accuracy of dispatch paperwork, SSCC labels, and correct dispatch stock to customers for DC delivery
  • Streamlining inbound logistics to maintain inventory accuracy and support production needs
  • Synchronising warehouse activities with production to maximize operational efficiency

  • Audits & Reporting: Conduct regular cycle counts, variance analyses, and generate essential reports on stock movement, turnover rates, and cost analysis to support data-driven decision-making.

  • Maintaining the highest standards of compliance, safety, and cleanliness to create an environment that celebrates and nurtures excellence.

  • Establish and ensure systems and site maintenance programs are carried out
  • Assist in the development of reporting for key operational indicators including labour optimisation, overtime, throughput rates and inventory control
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure that relevant policies and procedures are clearly defined, communicated and effective
  • Create new reporting processes and data sets to measure and manage the team on key workflow requirements to achieve business outcomes.
  • Process Improvement: Drive Lean initiatives to streamline inventory management, reduce waste, and improve efficiencies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes that enhance inventory accuracy.

  • Manage all warehouse operations including FIFO, UBDs, cycle counts, to ensure accuracy and accountability across the warehouse team

  • Implement and manage new roles and responsibilities across the warehouse team and ensure adequate training and development of skills
  • Partner with the planning team to discuss and determine demand, supply and labour requirements
  • Identify, drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency programs
  • Partner with internal and external customers in relation to the despatch function, associated service levels and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure accuracy of pallet and stock dispatch to major retailer requirements to reduce DC rejections
  • Quality & Safety: Ensure adherence to quality standards and legislative safety requirements. Investigate and resolve quality issues promptly to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Ensure safety of the team through correct training and OHS practices

  • Drive corrective and preventative safety programs with a focus on behavioural safety
  • Optimising warehouse operations to achieve high safety standards, cleanliness and performance targets
  • Enhancing workplace safety and product quality through rigorous OH&S and GMP adherence

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience: Significant experience in inventory management within high-transaction, warehouse, or supply chain environments, with strong knowledge of inventory control systems and variance analysis.

Excellent knowledge of supply chain logistics within an FMCG environment including demonstrable understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory software, and data tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with a solid analytical approach to report generation.

  • Experience working in a production environment will be advantageous

  • Leadership Skills: Superior leadership skills, able to build rapport quickly and effectively to create a highly collaborative working environment

  • Proven experience in team management, change management, and driving employee engagement initiatives.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate cross functionally to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and resilience and able to recover from setbacks
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic business environment
  • Commercial Insight: Ability to make cost-effective decisions and propose process improvements using data-driven insights.
