Your Opportunity

Cement Australia is seeking an experienced Operations Accountant to support our Road & Rail Distribution business. As a key member of the Supply Chain & Logistics team, you will provide accurate financial reporting, insights and advice to support operational decision making and business objectives.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role works closely with a range of stakeholders including Regional Logistics Managers, Rail Terminal Managers, the CA Accounting Team, AP/AR, Delivery Execution and Planning teams.

In this role, some of your main duties will include:

  • Prepare, develop and deliver accurate, timely and relevant management reporting for the Road & Rail operations, including monthly financial analysis against budget.
  • Produce the month-end results, with a focus on continuous process improvement, analysis and reporting to support business understanding.
  • Build strong working relationships with operational stakeholders to understand business drivers and assist non-financial managers to interpret financial information for effective decision making.
  • Prepare and upload accurate forecasts, annual budgets and long-term plans for the Road & Rail business.
  • Compile management reports (P&L and Balance Sheet) and ensure the integrity of underlying data.
  • Provide accounting support and respond to management accounting queries.
  • Champion cost control, budget ownership and business improvement by providing coaching and financial support to the Road & Rail Operations team.
  • Work collaboratively with Group Accounting to streamline processes and align work methods.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit files and responding to auditor queries.
  • Ensure compliance with CA and Australian accounting standards and policies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of capex proposals and manage Road & Rail capex forecasting.
  • Participate in business projects and initiatives as required.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, Accounting or related discipline.
  • Membership of a professional accounting body (or working towards).
  • 2 - 5 years' experience in operational accounting or management accounting.
  • Strong financial reporting and analysis capability.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with SAP R3 / SAC / BI (desirable).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability and results focus.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across business functions.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks and improve processes.
