This position is based on-site at our Head Office & Manufacturing / Warehouse facility in Port Melbourne, just moments from the West Gate and Monash Freeways.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable operator/technician to efficiently operate and monitor our plastic compound production area and assist to maintain plant integrity and reliability of equipment.

This is a full time role, working 12 hour shifts averaged across a fortnight (7 shifts inclusive of 3.8 hours overtime a fortnight) on permanent day shift (6am-6pm), affording great work-life balance on a Mon-Wed/Mon-Thurs roster.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting up, loading and unloading compounding machine

  • Monitoring compounding machine

  • Troubleshooting on production machinery

  • Manual handling, including lifting of equipment and materials as required

  • Counterbalance forklift duties

  • Assist with development of procedures

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a reliable team player with the ability to work in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience as a plastic compound machine operator (Buss machine operation preferred but not essential)

  • Experience with handling and weighing resins and chemicals

  • A current forklift license and experience

  • The ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic computer skills and strong mechanical aptitude

  • Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills

  • Effective problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to do manual lifting and be physically fit

  • Experience with polymer compounding procedures, masterbatch manufacture and associated equipment is required

  • You will have some relevant process operations experience, but equally important is your willingness and desire to learn and be a positive, key member of our high performing team
