Exciting opportunity to join one of Melbourne's largest municipalities.

Some of Brimbanks key attractions include its state-of-the-art performance space – the 'Bowery Theatre' in St Albans; and the worldclass 'Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre' which features a 24-hour gym, waterslides, and heated Olympic sized swimming pools, along with a six green star rating for its innovative and sustainable design.
Brimbank is continuously growing, with many transformational infrastructure projects about to break ground. A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.

About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Parks & Public Realm, we are seeking an experience leader who can collaborate and inspire a dedicated team that is committed to protecting, optimising and growing Brimbank's open space, parks and urban forest. Your vision and guidance will shape policies, plans, and capital works that provide meaningful and accessible outdoor spaces for our diverse community to enjoy. You will play a vital role in the Departmental leadership team, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity within your unit and across the organisation.
To be considered you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, or other relevant field coupled with extensive experience in the provision and planning for open space and urban forest outcomes.
- Excellent leadership skills and experience in leading, managing and motivating a multi-disciplinary team in delivering services, programs and projects.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, including experience in negotiating outcomes and influencing stakeholders in a complex and dynamic operating environment.
- Demonstrated skills, experience, knowledge and understanding of strategy and policy development, consultation, analysis, evaluation, and implementation as it applies to open spaces and urban forest.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the planning, programming and project management of capital works, including development of project briefs and business cases.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure in a complex environment to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work in accordance with, and champion, the Brimbank values and behaviours.
