About the Role:

Gippsland Critical Minerals (GCM) is seeking a motivated and passionate Junior Engineer to join the team supporting the Fingerboards Critical Minerals Project – one of Victoria's most significant new mining developments.

This role offers hands-on experience across mining, mineral processing, environmental management, and site infrastructure. You'll be working closely with senior engineers to support the design, development, and optimisation of systems that prioritise safety, sustainability, and community benefit.

This role is the perfect opportunity for a graduate or early-career engineer eager to grow their technical and professional skills within a collaborative and high-performing project team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and review of mine and processing layouts, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Support mass balance calculation, process simulations, and equipment specifications.
  • Collect and analyse field data to help optimise mining and processing performance.
  • Participate in site coordination, including scheduling, inspections, and contractor liaison.
  • Prepare clear and accurate technical reports, charts, and presentations.
  • Provide technical support for environmental, sustainability and community engagement workstreams.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Degree-qualified in Mining, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering.
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a dynamic project environment.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, data analysis, and technical communication.
  • Proficient in tools such has AutoCAD, Excel, and mass balance or process modelling software.
  • Willing to work regionally and travel to the project site as required.

Desirable:

  • Experience in mineral sands or rare-earth projects.
  • Understanding of environmental, safety, and sustainability standards in mining.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling or mine planning tools.
