Our client is a leading process engineering company based in Victoria, specialising in the design and construction of water and sewage treatment projects.

With multiple newly awarded D&C wastewater treatment projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced chemical engineer to join in key leadership role.

Position Summary

The Senior Process Engineer will play a key role in the design, optimisation and delivery of D&C wastewater treatment projects for water utility clients across Australia.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide technical leadership throughout all phases of a project — from concept development and detailed design to commissioning and performance validation.

This role will suit a hands-on engineer with a deep understanding of wastewater treatment processes who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and helping clients achieve efficient, compliant, and sustainable treatment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process design for wastewater treatment plants, including development of PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances and process specifications
  • Undertake detailed process modelling, analysis and optimisation to improve plant performance
  • Provide technical input during tendering, detailed design, construction and commissioning
  • Support project managers and site teams with process troubleshooting and commissioning activities
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation, design reports and client presentations
  • Mentor and support junior process engineers and graduates
  • Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with environmental, safety and quality standards

About You

  • Degree in Chemical, Environmental or Process Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in wastewater treatment process design and/or operations
  • Strong knowledge of biological nutrient removal, tertiary filtration, and sludge handling processes
  • Proven ability to deliver practical, cost-effective engineering solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clients and stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required
