Operations Manager

The Children, Youth and Families (CYF) Operations Branch is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader for the Operations Manager role. This position plays a key role in delivering the best possible life outcomes for children and young people through responsive client service underpinned by best practice trauma informed case management.

As an Operations Manager, you will:

• Oversee several teams within your area of CYF.
• Provide supervision, guidance, and support to Team Leaders.
• Ensure staff are delivering services in line with relevant legislation, policy, and procedures.
• Report directly to the Senior Director for your area, offering advice on staffing and client-related matters.
• Provide strategic oversight of the business area and contribute sound advice to the Executive team.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science or related discipline are essential. Please note: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who do not have these qualifications but who have appropriate and relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage and experience are eligible to apply. For Youth Justice positions, relevant qualification in Criminology or Law may be considered.
• At least five (5) years of practical experience working with children, youth and/or families in a social work/case management role, and/or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.
• Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra )
• Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

As this role is likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, and capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of permanency.

A merit pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies within the Children, Youth and Families Division over the next 12 months.
