As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and experienced full-time chef to join our dynamic kitchen team and contribute to our continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement standardised cooking procedures to ensure consistency in food quality and streamline kitchen operations.
· Monitor the quality of dishes during all phases of preparation, cooking, and plating to maintain high standards.
· Demonstrate proficiency in preparing a broad range of authentic Chinese dishes, with emphasis on flavour, presentation, and consistency.
· Lead menu planning and innovation aligned with the restaurant's culinary identity and current market trends.
· Estimate and monitor food and labour costs to inform budgeting and cost control measures.
· Evaluate ingredient quality and freshness, ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
· Enforce kitchen hygiene and food safety protocols in accordance with health regulations.
· Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stock rotation, and waste control.
· Select, train, and supervise junior kitchen staff, ensuring consistent adherence to culinary standards and techniques.
· Oversee kitchen operations during service periods, coordinating staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely dish delivery.
· Foster a collaborative, positive kitchen environment by mentoring team members and promoting professional growth.
Requirements:
· A Diploma in Hospitality Management or related field is required.
· Minimum one year of experience as a chef in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, with a strong background in Chinese cuisine.
· Solid knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and hands-on experience in preparing both traditional and modern Chinese dishes.
· Familiarity with authentic Chinese ingredients, culinary methods, and the use of specialised kitchen tools and equipment.
· Demonstrated ability to oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, particularly during busy service periods.
· Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
· Ability to perform well under pressure, resolve issues promptly, and contribute positively to a team-oriented kitchen environment.
