The Executive Director, People & Culture is a member of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO. Directing the people strategy and agenda provides immense scope for driving real impact in a purpose-driven sector. CatholicCare Sydney delivers diverse and meaningful programs to the community spanning Aged Care, Disability Services and Children and Family services. Our people are at the heart of everything we do and this role is central to our ongoing success.
You will be working with an Executive team and Board that prioritises people – they recognise the value of building and sustaining a highly capable, diverse workforce and culture that enables CatholicCare Sydney to deliver sector leading programs to the clients and communities we serve.
You will have scope to be innovative and strategic in this role in readying our organisation for the future. At the same time, you will have responsibility and operational oversight of our key people processes spanning employee relations, talent acquisition and management, capability development, compensation and benefits, organisational design, employee experience and communications, HR metrics and analytics.
About the Role:
Some of your responsibilities will be:
- As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, contribute to and implement the organisation's strategic and operational plans.
- Prepare and deliver updates to the Board relating to People & Culture strategy, practices and metrics.
- Be adaptable to multiple competing requests and deadlines.
- Lead a highly capable People & Culture team spanning HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Talent & Engagement, Capability Development and HR Operations.
- Chair the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the organisation.
- Develop and implement the long-range and annual people strategy.
- Lead and oversee key people processes across the organisation spanning the employee lifecycle.
- Represent the organisation at external networks, events and maintain key strategic relationships on behalf of the organisation.
- Provide expert counsel to the CEO and Executive team on all people related matters.
- Work closely with Payroll and Work, Health & Safety to ensure alignment across functions.

About You:
To be a successful candidate you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources as well as substantive experience in a leadership or management role at a similar level
- Proven ability to manage stakeholder relations and build collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships across a range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to work in a changing and challenging environment
- Experience in leading and motivating a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including motivating and mentoring staff to achieve a positive culture and service excellence
- High level communication and consultation skills and proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders
- Excellent written communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop complex submissions, briefings and reports for diverse audiences
- Experience in transformation and change at an organisational level would be highly advantageous
