Job Description: We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our team at St James, Richmond. This role is crucial in upholding our standards of culinary excellence, overseeing the preparation of dishes, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring a superb dining experience for all guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development: Craft innovative menus, manage food and labor costs, and oversee supply orders to ensure efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain the highest standards of food quality throughout all stages of preparation and presentation.
  • Team Leadership: Collaborate with management, kitchen, and service staff to foster seamless kitchen operations.
  • Cooking and Preparation: Execute meal preparations to meet restaurant standards and exceed guest expectations.
  • Staff Training: Provide training and mentorship to kitchen staff, promoting growth and skill development.
  • Health and Safety: Uphold stringent food safety and hygiene standards to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Food Management: Implement effective food preservation methods to reduce waste and maintain freshness.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 1 year in a chef role.
  • Leadership: Strong ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Customer Service: Committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience.
  • Financial Skills: Proficient in budgeting and cost control.
  • Multitasking: Able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
