We're seeking a compassionate and strategic Advocate to deliver high quality individual and systemic advocacy across the NT.

About the Role

As an Advocate, you'll support clients navigating complex systems like the NDIS, promote disability rights, and contribute to policy development and community education. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be a key voice for change-working to improve services, uphold dignity, and foster inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual advocacy and support to people with disability.

• Facilitate access to services and empower clients with self-advocacy skills.

• Contribute to systemic advocacy and policy reform.

• Deliver training and outreach to promote disability rights.

• Collaborate with community organisations and represent IDA in forums.

• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with legislation.

What You'll Bring

Essential:

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Disability, Health, Social Work, or Education

• Experience in disability advocacy or navigating the NDIS.

• Strong understanding of disability rights and legislation

• Excellent communication and training delivery skills

• Cross-cultural competence and commitment to inclusion

• NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), Criminal History Check, NT Driver's Licence, and COVID-19 vaccination evidence.

Desirable:

• High-level interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client databases
