Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) is at the heart of Queensland's fresh produce industry, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the distribution of fruits and vegetables across the state. We represent a dynamic and growing industry, and we are looking for a Data and Compliance Officer to play a key role in ensuring our business data is accurate, compliant, and working efficiently for the entire organisation.

About the role

Reporting to the Administration Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining the integrity and compliance of data across BML's systems. This includes mapping data lifecycles, conducting audits, interpreting reports to identify improvements, and ensuring data practices align with our policies, procedures, and the Privacy Act.

You'll work closely with managers across departments to support effective use of data, process improvement, and accurate communication with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Map and document data lifecycles across all business systems.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data security.
  • Develop and maintain exception reporting to support management decision-making.
  • Review and improve data-related policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure effective use and storage of data.
  • Support projects that enhance data integrity and compliance.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a data or compliance administrative role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, show initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • An understanding of how business needs relate to data systems.
  • Working knowledge of the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian data protection regulations
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency with unrestricted right to work in Australia
