About the position:

We are seeking a proactive Sourcing and Inventory Officer to join our Stramit Finance Family, reporting directly to the National Procurement Manager. This role is responsible for managing national import products, assist in sourcing projects and providing support in national inventory management. A collaborative mindset and strong attention to detail will be key to success in this role.

This is a full-time opportunity based at our Knoxfield (VIC) site, with 3 dedicated onsite work days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Import Steel Management
    – Source and manage imported steel products, oversee inventory levels, and coordinate third-party coil processing.
  • Sourcing Support
    – Assist in sourcing initiatives to ensure cost-effective and reliable supply options across various categories.
  • Inventory Accuracy & Stocktake Coordination
  • Coordinate national cycle counts program and support annual stocktake activities. Provide training and reporting tools to branches to uphold inventory accuracy and compliance.
  • SLOB & Aged Stock Oversight
  • Analyse slow-moving and excess inventory, support reduction plans and follow up on actions.
  • Supplier Performance Support
  • Track steel stock-out escalations, consignment returns and Re-Order Point (ROP) reviews.
  • Purchase Order Management
  • Monitor national outstanding purchase orders closure across to support procurement transparency and supply chain visibility.
  • Assist with product lifecycle transitions—introductions, discontinuations, and system data accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and contribute to Zero Harm initiatives.
  • Maintain quality assurance standards across supply, procurement, and inventory processes.

To be considered for this role, we're looking for…

  • Experience in procurement and inventory—ideally within the steel construction manufacturing sector.
  • Familiarity with import/export processes (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of purchasing and contract management principles (APICS), including negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Clear and confident communication skills across teams and suppliers.
  • Ability to think conceptually and solve problems proactively.
  • Demonstrated initiative, integrity, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Solid numerical reasoning and analytical capability.
