About the role
The Octopus Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced and talented Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at our restaurant in Redcliffe, QLD. As a full-time Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for our customers.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, food preparation, stock ordering and quality control
- Supervising and mentoring the kitchen team to ensure consistent and high-quality food delivery
- Implementing and maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Collaborating with the management team to develop and refine menu offerings
- Managing inventory and making recommendations for ingredient purchases
- Fostering a positive and productive work environment in the kitchen
What we're looking for
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a reputable restaurant or hospitality establishment
- Strong working knowledge of Italian cuisine and a variety of cooking techniques, as well as experience in stock control and ordering
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication and team leadership skills
- Passion for creating authentic and delicious dishes
- Valid food safety and hygiene certification
