We're looking for a skilled and ambitious Sous Chef to join Little Walden at Happitat — our brand-new café in the Gold Coast hinterland, surrounded by the world's first Cliff Park and nature adventure destination.

As Sous Chef, you'll work side by side with our Head Chef, helping to lead kitchen operations, inspire the team, and deliver fresh, vibrant menus that showcase local produce and elevate the guest journey.

This is more than a stepping-stone role. With WALDEN opening at 1696 Beechmont Road, you'll play a vital role in shaping its kitchen and menu from inception through to launch — growing into a leadership position across two venues as Happitat's culinary story expands.

Key Responsibilities

· Support the Head Chef in leading kitchen operations at Little Walden.

· Help design and deliver vibrant menus that celebrate local produce.

· Mentor, motivate, and support a positive, energetic team culture.

· Ensure consistency, quality, and smooth service across all dishes.

· Maintain supplier relationships and champion sustainability.

· Oversee stock management, HACCP compliance, and food safety standards.

· Collaborate with leadership to shape WALDEN's kitchen culture and systems.

What We're Looking For

· Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef (or strong CDP ready to step up).

· Hands-on leader with a positive, team-focused mindset.

· Strong organisational skills, able to thrive across multiple venues.

· Passion for fresh, local produce and modern café cuisine.

· Commitment to food safety and HACCP compliance.

· Availability during weekends, public and school holidays.

· Valid driver's licence.
