The Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne has a unique opportunity for a Hotel Executive Assistant Manager (EAM) to join our team.
We are seeking someone who is aspiring to one day being a Hotel General Manager and who is dedicated to working on learning the skills and attributes required to be a General Manager one day.
Due to the promotion of our current EAM stepping into a General Manager position in one of our properties to manage as their own, this opportunity is for one who is seeking that progression and yearning to work towards achieving their long-term career goal in hotel management.
The Executive Assistant Manager will report directly to our dedicated and innovative Area General Manager (AGM). Note the last EAM promotion to GM is the 25th individual our AGM has promoted to GM
You will liaise with the AGM to assume responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the hotel operations, profitability, guest experience and employee culture as well as cross training in Hotel Sales & Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Strategic Thinking, Risk Management and Strata Management.
This position will be responsible for reporting on and overseeing the smooth operation of our 160 room Hotel in the following areas:
- Housekeeping
- Reservations (and rooms inventory/yield management)
- Front Office (including property management systems and associated software)
- Engineering
- Food and Beverage Outlets and Room Service
- Banquet/Conference Operations
The EAM is part of our Senior Executive Management team and therefore requires the successful individual to have extensive experience and knowledge of hotel operations. In addition to operational knowledge, the successful applicant will possess and have proven abilities in the following:
- Outstanding communication skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Exceptional leadership skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate teams
- Ability to build rapport and act with integrity
- Positive can-do attitude and will to lead from the front
- Be highly organised with the ability to prioritise
Requirements of this role are as follows:
- Previous Front Office Manager or Rooms Division Manager experience essential
- Full Australian working rights as this position is a permanent full-time opportunity
- Must be available to provide flexibility to work over a 7-Day roster to meet business needs

The successful EAM will be facilitated and supported by the AGM to assist with their development and will have the added benefit of still being able to access our current EAM for guidance.
