Our client is a leading global services and maintenance company who employ over 1500 staff across Australia. This is an exceptional opportunity to join their dynamic team and oversee all aspects of the end-to-end payroll function. Reporting to the Group Accountant and with 3 direct reports, specific responsibilities include:-
- Overseeing and managing the accurate and timely processing of payroll
- Ensuring compliance with State and Federal payroll tax regulations and employment laws
- Managing payroll reporting, reconciliations and audits
- Implementing and maintaining payroll policies, procedures and controls for efficiency and compliance
- Partnering with People & Culture and Finance to ensure alignment on payroll-related matters
- Leading and developing the payroll team, providing training and support to enhance performance
- Overseeing payroll system upgrades, automation projects and vendor relationships
- Responding to employee payroll enquiries, ensuring a high level of customer service
- Staying updated on legislative changes and industry best practices
To be successful in this position you will be an experienced and confident Payroll professional with:
- Extensive demonstrated experience in the same or similar role
- Experience in an environment with a payroll of over 1000+ employees across multiple locations and with multiple EBA's / Awards / Agreements
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the use of payroll software including employee self service module and attendance integration
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the use of time and attendance software
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills (especially Excel)
- Certification in Payroll Management or a related field
- Personal and people management abilities including supervision and team building
- Proven ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner
Any prior experience in manufacturing or production will be highly regarded.
Importantly, you will be customer focussed with the ability and drive to liaise with people at all levels as this is a highly interactive position, requiring frequent engagement with staff and leaders.
The business offers flexible working arrangements including 2 days per week working from home. Note that whilst this role is required to work a standard 38 hour week, there will be requirements to work longer hours on payroll days, with time in lieu / shorter hours offered on others to compensate. Flexible start and finish times can be also be negotiated for the right candidate.
