Are you a strategic leader with a passion for consumer protection and regulatory reform? NSW Fair Trading is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director Compliance and Resolution to lead critical regulatory functions within the rental sector.

About the Role

As Director Compliance and Resolution, you'll lead the delivery of end-to-end regulatory services across the NSW rental market. This includes complaints resolution, mediation, compliance, investigations, and enforcement.

You'll play a pivotal role in protecting vulnerable consumers, strengthening public confidence, and driving continuous improvement in how we regulate the rental sector, from residential tenancies and boarding houses to conduct in short-term rental accommodation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading regulatory operations across compliance, enforcement, and dispute resolution
  • Overseeing frameworks and systems that ensure fair, consistent, and timely outcomes
  • Managing high-performing teams and building capability across multidisciplinary functions
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, advocacy groups, and other regulators to improve sector outcomes
  • Driving innovation and reform through data, intelligence, and strategic partnerships

  • Leading cultural and operational transformation within a maturing regulatory setting.

About You

You're a strategic and experienced leader with a strong background in regulatory, legal, or compliance environments. You bring a deep understanding of tenancy law or housing regulation, and you're passionate about fairness, consumer protection, and service excellence.

You thrive in complex, high-pressure environments and are confident navigating public scrutiny while leading teams through transformation.
