We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Risk and Compliance to lead and manage our company's risk management and compliance programs. This is a critical leadership role responsible for developing and implementing a robust framework to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks across all business functions. The ideal candidate will be a decisive leader with deep expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and governance.

Interesting problems you will get to solve:
The Director, Risk and Compliance, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) supports the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (CRO) in overseeing Zip's risk and compliance management frameworks and fostering a strong risk-aware culture.

Supporting the CR&CO:
Acting as a key advisor to the CR&CO, to help them govern, oversee and provide risk advice across the ANZ business, and supporting key projects and initiatives.

Developing and Implementing Risk Management Frameworks:

  • Contributing to the design of the Group, and regional policies, frameworks, procedures, to identify, assess, and manage various types of risks and compliance obligations.
  • Overseeing Zip ANZ's implementation of these policies, frameworks and procedures, and monitors effectiveness of implementation.
  • Identifying areas for improvement in risk and compliance management practices, including consideration of artificial intelligence as an enabler.

Governance, Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Co-ordinating and/or preparing risk and compliance reports for Zip's group risk committee, the ANZ regional risk committee and ANZ's non-financial risk forum ensuring that risk and compliance information is communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders.
  • Deriving risk insights and enhancing risk reporting, ensuring that the ANZ risk profile is current.

Fostering a Risk-Aware Culture:
Promoting a strong understanding of risk management principles throughout Zip ANZ and encouraging our Zipsters to adopt risk-aware practices.

Responding to Risk Events:

  • Responding to and managing material risk-related incidents.
  • Overseeing business continuity readiness and may be involved in responding to business continuity events.

Providing Training and Guidance:
Providing training to employees on risk and compliance management topics and offering guidance on risk and compliance-related issues.

What You'll Bring To The Team

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to our industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective risk and compliance programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
