About the Venue:

Delta Rue

Delta Rue is striking and bustling restaurant on level 5 of the Sydney Sofitel Wentworth with Vietnamese-French cuisine. Delta Rue evokes the faded old-world elegance of Hanoi's Old Quarter in the 1920s, offering a piece of unique escapism to our guests. An extensive and wide reaching wine list compliments the bold flavours to help provide a distinctive experience unlike any other in Sydney.

About the Role:

As we continue to grow and expand trading hours in warmer months, we are on the lookout for a sommelier or junior sommelier to join the team. You play a key role in driving the beverage performance and overall service standard of the venue. While you get to work with great wines and with a highly accomplished team, it is also important you see the bigger picture of the venues and are equally happy to jump in and clear a table or take a section if required.

Working with our Head of Beverage, you will also have opportunity to have genuine input into the wine list, help shape it and as you grow into the role, really own the wine program in Delta Rue.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional wine related service
• Impart your passion for wine and all things beverage with the team, and drive education through training sessions and briefings
• Stock maintenance, ordering and cellar organisation
• Join the senior wine team in tastings to help shape the wine lists
• Support the operations of the restaurant with a willingness to jump into multiple areas
• Uphold compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a wine service related role, preferably in a high-volume venue.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to share your knowledge in a way that makes wine approachable
• A genuine warmth and passion for hospitality and giving a great guest experience
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the hospitality industry, including RSA.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
