Ingleburn, New South Wales, Australia Coates Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

About us

Coates is proudly Australian owned and has a long history of supporting customers to deliver major projects. We provide end-to-end solutions across five key areas: Equipment Hire, Engineering Solutions, Industrial Solutions, Power & HVAC, and Training.

We're looking for a Technical Engineer - Water Treatment to provide support in designing, developing and delivering temporary water treatment and management solutions across Australia. You'll combine hands-on technical work with customer collaboration — bringing ideas to life from concept through to commissioning.

What you'll do

Every day will be different. You'll work closely with customers and colleagues to design and implement smart, compliant and cost-effective water management systems that make a real difference.

You'll also have the opportunity to:

  • Champion our Safety-First culture in everything you do
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to solve complex water challenges
  • Design and specify custom water treatment systems for diverse projects
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals and drawings (site plans, plant layouts, P&IDs, etc.)
  • Support both branch and site operations — from equipment preparation to onsite commissioning and handover.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and consultants to ensure compliance and excellence
  • Stay ahead of the curve by researching market trends, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions
  • Contribute to new product development and continuous improvement initiatives

What you'll get in return

  • We provide our team with a wide range of perks and benefits, including:
  • Development and career progression pathways
  • Access to our employee discounts, benefits & wellbeing program
  • Purchased additional leave program
  • Novated leasing and salary sacrifice
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Volunteering opportunities through the Coates Foundation

What you'll bring to the role

You're a technically minded engineer who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, solving problems, and turning ideas into outcomes. You combine strong technical acumen with curiosity and collaboration.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
  • 1-5 years' experience in water treatment or management
  • Understanding of dewatering and pumping methods used in the Australian construction industry
  • Strong grasp of regulatory and environmental standards for water treatment and discharge
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects from design through to completion
  • Confidence using modelling and drafting software
  • A drive to innovate and improve how things are done
