Esperance is a beautiful coastal town with the most stunning coastal scenery with white beaches and turquoise waters. Esperance is a popular town for tourism and abounds in natural attractions including several National Parks in the region.
We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Officer Marine to join our team.
Under the general direction of the Marine Park Coordinator, this position:
- Participates in the annual planning and prioritisation of the joint management plans for the development of annual work plans.
- Plans and organises the implementation of operational plans, works and maintenance programs and operations for the Wudjari Marine Park, Mirning Marine Park and Western Bight Marine Park.
- Coordinates and plans vessels, vehicles, equipment, contractors and materials to implement the works program.
- Liaises, consults and communicates with Traditional Owners, community and stakeholders in relation to departmental works outcomes.
- Undertakes incident response activities including marine wildlife strandings, oil spills and wildfires.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.
Knowledge and experience in the logistics and maintenance of vessels, and the operation and skippering of vessels up to 12 metres in length requiring a Coxswain Grade 1 (NSCV Near Coastal) as a minimum certificate of competency, with a preference for a Master
Experience in the operational planning and implementation of works and maintenance programs associated with coastal, marine and island management.
- Evidence of well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience in maintaining positive relationships with Traditional Owners, external organisations, commercial operators, key stakeholders, community and special interest groups.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of the team and independently, demonstrate a high level of self-motivation.
