About The Role

Kinetic IT is seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Payroll Officer to join our team on a part-time basis (28 hours per week).

This is a fantastic opportunity to build hands-on experience in a fast-paced, end-to-end payroll environment, supported by a collaborative and friendly team. We're looking for someone who's great with numbers, enjoys helping others, and brings a positive, can-do attitude to everything they do.

Responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-end processing of weekly payroll for approximately 1,500 employees, ensuring all transactions are accurate, timely, and compliant.
  • Set up new employees in the payroll system, ensuring all onboarding data is correctly captured.
  • Manage and process employee changes, including salary adjustments, higher duties, and applicable allowances or deductions.
  • Calculate and process termination payments, including annual leave and long service leave reconciliation
  • Reconcile salary packaging accounts and coordinate with external providers to ensure accurate processing and reporting.
  • Managing Superannuation including Super Choice funds for employees, prepare and reconcile weekly super payments
  • Proactively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline payroll processes and enhance service delivery.
  • Interpret and apply relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and employment legislation to ensure payroll compliance.
  • Respond to general payroll enquiries from employees and management, providing timely and accurate support.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure alignment on employee data, reporting, and compliance.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • 2–5+ years of hands-on, end-to-end payroll processing experience, with strong knowledge of payroll systems and procedures.
  • Understanding of relevant awards, employment legislation, taxation, and superannuation regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage payroll for 1000+ employees in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of formulas, data manipulation, and complex formatting.
  • Strong experience in high-volume data entry and database management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Highly detail-oriented and well-organised, with a proactive mindset and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional, customer-focused service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels of an organisation.
