The opportunity

Silverchain are now seeking a highly experienced First Nations Strategy & Partnerships Lead to join the Community Impact & Inclusion team on a permanent full-time basis.

The First Nations Strategy & Partnership Lead will manage the development of the First Nations partnership strategy, providing leadership across the delivery of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to embed culturally safe, responsive, and equitable care across our national service footprint.

This role supports Silverchain's broader commitment to health equity, reconciliation, and community impact through strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and cultural capability development across our people, services, and governance.

We are flexible with working location and are looking for the perfect person for the role and are happy to support applicants from either VIC, WA or SA.

Key responsibilities

The First Nations Strategy & Partnership Lead will have the below major responsibilities:

  • You will lead the development and implementation of Silverchain's First Nations partnership strategy.
  • You will be involved in leading the execution and delivery of the First Nations Strategy once developed ensuring that initiatives are delivered effectively on time and within scope.
  • Being a leader in the development, implementation, and evaluation of cultural programs that foster sustained impact, enhance cultural understanding, and align with Silverchain's vision.
  • Involved in exciting and innovate approaches to embedding cultural learning in Silverchain's activities and programs, empowering staff to build relationships and work effectively with First Nations communities.
  • Provide leadership for the delivery of the existing RAP and work in collaboration to develop future RAPs.
  • Being culturally informed strategic advice to Silverchain's Executive and Board to support health equity and access.
  • Build, maintain and support the business to engage in respectful, reciprocal relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, peak bodies, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across Silverchain's operating jurisdictions.
  • Facilitate co-designed initiatives and service models that reflect the priorities of First Nations communities and align with Closing the Gap commitments.
  • Working closely with the People & Culture, Clinical Governance, and operational leaders to embed cultural safety principles into workforce development, care delivery, and policy.
  • Partnering with the procurement team to grow First Nations suppliers and support the development and execution of a First Nations procurement strategy.

About you

  • Qualifications in Indigenous studies, public health community development or related disciplines.
  • Experience working in large, complex organisations with national or multi-jurisdictional operations.
  • Familiarity with Closing the Gap, Indigenous data sovereignty, and national reconciliation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading First Nations engagement strategy or partnership roles, preferably within the health, community or social services sectors.
  • Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures, knowledge systems and self-determination principles.
  • High- level stakeholder engagement, relationship building and cultural governance experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic initiatives, influence change and build internal capability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of strategic documents, reports, and presentations.
