First Nations Healing Incorporated is an award-winning, not-for-profit organisation specialising in culturally safe and trauma-informed support for Aboriginal women and children impacted by domestic and family violence. With a proud history spanning over 50 years, we deliver a comprehensive range of services, including—but not limited to—core and cluster models, transitional and supported housing, and outreach programs. The organisation is governed by a Board comprised of Aboriginal community members, ensuring culturally grounded leadership and accountability.
Position Summary:
The Access Worker role is responsible for providing culturally appropriate and responsive information, advocacy, and referral to Aboriginal people and families needing to be linked to services. The role will identify community-based services and resources, ensuring that people have access to the most appropriate service response based on their need. This will include identification of services willing to partner in the provision of onsite information sessions and where practicable in-house service delivery responses.
Key Responsibility:
· Provide Aboriginal people and families with access to information and pathways to access services.
· Promote community resources and information to Aboriginal families and key stakeholders
· Participate and support activities that promote the education of Family and Domestic Violence and Coercive Control.
· Engage Aboriginal individuals and families within an early intervention practice approach to encourage participation in the service to build a shared commitment to keeping families safe.
· Collaborate with Case Practitioners in the identification of need in a manner that supports early engagement with services and support.
· Broker pathways and support client engagement with services where appropriate.
· Work in ways that enable families to be central to decisions and to own their journey of change and growth.
· Deliver relevant activities and programs that support positive outcomes for clients.
· Develop and maintain a Service Directory of keys services, service criteria and access points.
Essential:
· Certificate IV in Community or experience commensurate with the position.
· Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of social and emotional wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal peoples.Experience working with Aboriginal families
· You must hold a current South Australian Driver's License or a license which permits you to drive in South Australia.
· Successful candidates will be required to clear and maintain probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance), Working with Vulnerable People Check and Working with Children Check (applicants need to hold a current WWCC to apply).
