Overview

First Nations Strategy and Partnerships Lead – Permanent full-time opportunity (76 hours per fortnight). Location flexibility – WA, VIC, SA. Hybrid supported working environment. Join the Community Impact & Inclusion team to lead the development of the First Nations partnership strategy and to drive the delivery of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) across Silverchain's national service footprint.

This role supports Silverchain's commitment to health equity, reconciliation, and community impact through strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and cultural capability development across our people, services, and governance. We are flexible with working location and welcome applicants from VIC, WA, or SA.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of Silverchain's First Nations partnership strategy.
  • Lead the execution and delivery of the First Nations Strategy to ensure initiatives are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate cultural programs that foster sustained impact and align with Silverchain's vision.
  • Embed cultural learning in activities and programs, empowering staff to build relationships with First Nations communities.
  • Provide leadership for the delivery of the existing RAP and collaborate to develop future RAPs.
  • Offer culturally informed strategic advice to the Executive and Board to support health equity and access.
  • Engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, peak bodies, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across operating jurisdictions.
  • Facilitate co-designed initiatives and service models reflecting First Nations priorities and in line with Closing the Gap commitments.
  • Collaborate with People & Culture, Clinical Governance, and operational leaders to embed cultural safety into workforce development, care delivery, and policy.
  • Partner with Procurement to grow First Nations suppliers and support the development and execution of a First Nations procurement strategy.
About you / Qualifications
  • Qualifications in Indigenous studies, public health, community development, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in large, complex organisations with national or multi-jurisdictional operations.
  • Familiarity with Closing the Gap, Indigenous data sovereignty, and national reconciliation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading First Nations engagement strategy or partnership roles, preferably in health, community, or social services sectors.
  • Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, knowledge systems, and self-determination principles.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship-building, and governance experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic initiatives, influence change, and build internal capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of strategic documents, reports, and presentations.
