Technical Support Engineer – Level 2/3 | Defence Environment | On-Site Melbourne

Location: Victoria Barracks, Melbourne

Contract: 12 months + 2 × 12-month extensions possible

Clearance: AGSVA Baseline (minimum)

Work Type: Full-time, On-site

Rate: Competitive daily rate | 220 days/year

Are you a skilled Level 2/3 Support Engineer with a passion for secure, standalone network environments? We're seeking a proactive and experienced professional to support a high-security Defence network in Melbourne.

About the Role: You'll be responsible for maintaining and supporting a discreet standalone network, working closely with Commonwealth personnel. This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring strong technical capability across Windows environments, security compliance, and ticket management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
  • Manage updates and patching via SCCM across servers and workstations
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain data
  • Review and remediate vulnerabilities in line with Commonwealth guidance
  • Support PXE builds and remote OS deployment
  • Assist with implementation of ASD/ACSC Essential 8 security measures
  • Provide hardware support and lifecycle assessments
  • Ensure compliance with the Information Security Manual (ISM)
  • Participate in structured asset audits
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and SOPs
  • Manage service requests, incidents, and problems using internal tools

Requirements

  • AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (minimum)
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence
  • Proven experience in Level 2/3 technical support roles
  • Strong knowledge of Windows server environments, SCCM, AD, and GPO
  • Understanding of Australian Government cyber security frameworks
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
