We are a well-established Sushi Train restaurant located inside a busy shopping centre in Penrith, with over 7 years of excellent customer reputation. We are now expanding our team and looking for a dedicated Full-Time Japanese Chef to join us.

This role can be suited to either:

  • Sushi Chef / Sushi Hand – skilled in rolls, nigiri, and sushi preparation
  • Japanese Hot Food Chef – experienced in Bento boxes, tempura, fried items, and general hot food preparation

About the Role

  • Preparing sushi or preparing Japanese hot dishes such as bento, tempura, fried chicken, etc.
  • Maintaining excellent food quality, hygiene, and presentation
  • Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Assisting front-of-house operations when required
  • This is a long-term, stable full-time role. Applicants should be able to commit for at least 1 year.

Requirements

  • Experience in either sushi preparation or Japanese hot food cooking
  • Ability to handle busy periods and work independently
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, responsible, and positive attitude

Work Details

  • Full-time position
  • 36–40 hours per week (stable hours, not seasonal)
  • Located inside a shopping centre with easy access to train, bus, and parking

Pay & Benefits

  • $77,000 – $85,000 per year, plus Super. Depending on experience and skills (competitive salary)
  • Higher pay is available for highly experienced chefs
  • Staff meal provided
  • Excellent performance may lead to Employer-Sponsored Visa opportunities (TSS / PR pathway)
