DWFL is a specialist family law firm based in St Leonards. We pride ourselves on providing high quality, expert advice to our clients, which is underpinned by our professional and talented staff.

We are looking for a family lawyer of 1-4-year PAE to join our specialist team. Lawyers looking to transition from commercial, property or wills and estates would also be highly regarded, as are those with experience as a judge's associate or paralegal. Your workload would consist of:

  • Complex parenting matters;
  • Complex/high value property matters;
  • Applications for divorce;
  • Binding Child Support Agreements and child support departure applications;
  • Setting aside financial agreements;
  • Third party and concurrent matters – e.g., criminal matters, family provision and commercial claims within family law matters;
  • Dispute resolution;
  • Settlement documents; and
  • Trial advocacy.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A passion for family law, including a desire to become an accredited specialist in family law and/or pursuing a Masters of Applied Law (Family Law);
  • 1-4 years' PAE in family law or a complementary practice area (commercial law, property law or wills and estates) OR a new lawyer with experience as a judge's associate or paralegal;
  • Attention to detail;
  • A strong emphasis on strategy and legal analysis (especially when faced with new challenges);
  • An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Tech smarts (particularly with the Office 365 suite);
  • A pragmatic and sensible approach to dispute resolution within the context of family law matters.
